Does waxing cause hair to grow back thicker or thinner?

I was discussing this with my friends, and there seems to be a lot of misconception/confusion surrounding the topic, i.e., some say the hair grows back thinner and softer, whereas others say it grows back thicker and coarser. I personally don't know. Also, do some women (or even men) wax their face?

It depends how much you wax whatever you are waxing. For example, if you wax your legs once, it might grow fast. It might grow back a little thick, but thinner and lighter than before. If you wax for several years, year after year, the hair will become thinner and lighter. If you are waxing your legs, after several years you will possibly not have any hair on your legs, and will only have to waz them about 2 times a year.

Personally, my hair grows back softer and less thick. Over time it does certianly get less thick and patchy in some areas. I only wax my legs, however -- I don't have thick black hair anyway, I have bronze hair, so I wouldn't really know about whether it grows back darker -- mine is just blonde.

if the hair has been properly waxed, then it grows back thinner and sparcer .but it will return to normal if you stop waxing for a long time.

and yes, women wax moustache and eyebrows, that's a pretty common practice.

i heard it depends on how you did it. if they did a good job then it'll grow thinner if not i heard it grows thinner.

my hair actually does grow back in darker normally, but since i started using the sally hansen kind it's been growing back thinner. don't know if that's tru... i guess it depends on the person. my friend waxed her arms but her hair gru back sparser and thicker.

My personal experience is the hair does come in thicker for a while but if you continue to wax as needed in a few months your body gets the idea and the ahri seems to thin out a bit. I have never done my face- hurts too much on the legs. I can not imagine doing your face.

Generally, over time the hair grows back thinner. And yes, some people wax their face. A friend of mine who is an electrologist once mentioned that it is not a good idea for guys to wax their face because it can, and usually will grow back thicker, and darker. I guess it has something to do with their hormones. But, women don't usually have that problem.
