Why does my hair grow slowly once it reaches a certain length?

my hair grows really quickley when it's short but when it gets to the length so that it covers my ears it grows VERY slowly. why and what can i do to make it speed up?

Why does my hair grow slowly once it reaches a certain length?

Theoretically, hair grows at the same speed regardless of length. A couple of factors may be at play in your case:

1. as your hair grows longer, proportionately, it seems to slow down. 1/2 inch looks longer on short hair than long.

2. Damage can make hair break. If you use hot styling products, harsh chemicals and/or treat your hair roughly when you brush it, split ends can form which break off.

Solutions:

1. Trim you hair if you see split ends. Ironically, if you do this, your hair will look thicker, and therefore, like, more.

2. Condition regularly, do not use hot dryers or straightening irons, or plastic brushes

3. Do use boar bristle hair brushes. They are gentle and add sheen

4. Eat lots of B-vitamin foods! This includes whole grains, dark leafy veggies, and, you can take a high dosage multi-B vitamin. Make sure you get a whole food one.

get it trimmed every six weeks. The reason is, it is still growing but it is breaking! So if you get it trimmed and keep it healthy you should notice a speed in the hair growth.
